On Saturday, Harvard hosted the Crimson Open 2025. The meet featured a number of exciting finishes and plenty of personal records. Fast times on a fast track.
In the men's 60 meters, two personal records were set: Michael Nossek of Suffolk ran 6.80 for the win and Trey Wakefield (Ultimate Speed Athletics) edged out Jaidin Haynes for second place at 6.89.
The men's 400 meters had excellent times, with the second and third place finisher setting personal bests. Corey Sanders of UMass Amherst dipped below 50 seconds, posting the fastest time of the day at 49.65. Ibrahima Diallo of Staten Island ran a personal best for the second fastest time of the day (50.23) with Aiden Lee of UMass Amherst placing third with 50.87 (his personal best.)
The women's 400 meter race featured a number of personal bests, with five of the top six finishers posting personal or seasonal bests! Elizabeth McMahon won the event with the fastest time of the day in 56.05. Personal bests were ran by the following runners: Eliza Martin (Austin Prep) Club 59.61, Jailene Escalera of Bridgewater State in 59.83, Merrimack College's Isabella Tomic posted a time of 1:00.36, Aleyo Amasa-Titus of Regis College (1:02.13) and Staten Island's Adonijah Washington in a time of 1:02.79.
The women's mile had a number of fast times with the top two finishers setting personal records: Leann Lombardi of UMass ran 5:07.05 for the win with Lily Thomas representing Merrimack placing second in a time of 5:09.40. Although Kaylie Dalgar of UMass did not run a personal best, she did run the third fastest time of the day in 5:13.30.
In the men's mile, the top four finishers posted personal (and seasonal) records. Nicholas Calitri ran the fastest time of the day in 4:18.97. Nicholas runs for UMass. Battle Road Track Club's John Mieszczanski finished second in a time of 4:20.58. UMass' Liam Ouellette ran 4:21.39 for the third place finish while Jack Lombardi of Merrimack finished in fourth with an outstanding time of 4:22.39.
The men's long jump was a very competition with only seven inches separating the top three competitors. Jabari Higgs-Salem of Coppin State won the event with a jump close to twenty-three feet (22' 11"). In second place, Ultimate Speed competitor Trey Wakefield jumped 22' 5.75" to secure the second place finish. William Murray of Williams landed the third longest jump of the day, 22' 4.5"
