Distance running and racewalking take center stage at the USATF NE Indoor Championships

Women's 5000m
The USATF NE Indoor Track & Field Championships kicked off with the 5000m event. Jamie Lord from Battleroad Track Club took an early lead and maintained it throughout the race, ultimately finishing approximately 45 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Michelle Vaccoro secured second place with a time of 17:03.13, while Juliana Cancellieri claimed third, recording a time of 17:26.28.





Men's 5000m
Colin Cernik seized the lead in the men's 5000m around the midpoint of the race and maintained a strong pace to the finish, despite having one shoelace untied for the final 1000m. Paulino Guevara Mateo from Fitchburg State secured second place, breaking the school record with a time of 14:31.49. Michael Creedon from the Greater Boston Track Club posted the third fastest time of the day (14:45.26) while competing in the second heat.
