At the indoor track during the John Thomas Terrier Class at Boston University over the weekend, 16-year-old New Zealand runner Sam Ruthe broke a junior world record.
On Saturday, Ruthe participated in the invitational one-mile race against a skilled group of professionals and recorded an astonishing time of 3:48.88. This achievement made him the world record holder for the mile among individuals under 18 and also set a new overall mile record for New Zealand. He surpassed the previous record of 3:49.08, established by Olympic gold medalist John Walker in 1982.
