- Grand Slam Track
Franklin Field, Philadephia, PA The first day of the Grand Slam Track meet began with the women's 400M hurdles. Grand Slam Track is a newly created league of US and international track athletes founded Michael Johnson. The premise of the league is to showcase the fastest competitors over two (and three) days of competition. The winners of the events will receive $100,000 for amassing the most points in the multi-day competition. Anna Cockrell began the day's competition by setting a facility record in the women's 400M hurdles. She ran a strong opening three hurdles, settled into a rhythm over the next four hurdles and finished strong. Jasmine Jones finished in the second position with Andrenette Knight taking third place. The New England Season Opener triathlon and duathlon was held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Hopkinton State Park. The New England Season Opener is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. The spectacular event was run by Max Performance ( link here. ) The Triathlon and Duathlon was held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the beautiful Hopkinton State Park. Hopkinton State Park is approximately 1500 acres and is located in Ashland and Hopkinton. On Sunday, the weather conditions were clear and windy for most of the race. On the second day of the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Tufts' Quinn Hampson ran 3:52.52, overtaking WPI's Avi Bissoondial down the stretch to win the men's 1500 meter race. Avi finished just behind in 3:52.81 to post the second fastest time of the day. His WPI teammate, Everett Mosher finished in the third position in a time of 3:57.01. - Black Men Run Annual Shakeout
The Boston chapter of Black Men Run (BMR Boston) hosted the annual Black History Shakeout run this past Sunday in Boston. Starting at City Hall Plaza, the 2.6 mile shakeout run explored Boston's role in the Underground Railroad. Members of BMR Boston Across read stories at key spots in Boston; "[ stories] that shaped the city’s legacy as a sanctuary for freedom seekers, spotlighting the courage and activism of abolitionists like David Walker and Maria Stewart to the triggering impact of fugitive slave laws." bmrboston instagram page

The 26.TRUE Marathon took place on Saturday, marking its fifth annual occurrence. The marathon course passes through Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, and Mattapan. - 2025 USATF Masters 10K Championships
The 2025 USATF Masters 10K Championships were held on Sunday at Endicott Estate in Dedham, MA. The event was organized by the James Joyce Ramble, which has been hosting the Masters 10K championships for 11 years. - New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships
The New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships were held at the US Coast Guard Academy last Friday and Saturday in New London. Friday featured day one of the multi-event competitions as well as field events, qualifying rounds in the dashes and finals in the 5K and 10K. In the men's pole vault, Ian Stebbins of Bowdoin College cleared 16-6.75 to win the event on countbacks. Vaulting the same height for second place was Chris Koskinen of Connecticut College. Ben Drummey of the University of Southern Maine cleared 16'-3" to secure the third position. __________________________________________________________________ In the men's javelin, Liam Bourassa of Fitchburg State University recorded the longest throw of the day at a distance of 226-4.25. In second place, a mere two inches behind, was Corey Stalters representing Bridgewater State University (226-2.25). Liam Higgins of Massachusetts Maritime Academy finished in the third spot with a throw of 207-10.5. __________________________________________________________________ The women's 5,000 was won by Paige Phillips of the United States Coast Guard Academy in a seasonal best time of 17:08.49. Finishing in second place and running a personal best time of 17:21.85 was Kiera Tallas of Connecticut College. Katya Henisz of Tufts University also ran a personal record, finishing in third place with a time of 17:23.91. __________________________________________________________________ The fast times continued in the women's 10,000 meter run. Haley Oliver of Rhode Island College ran a seasonal best time of 36:31.26 to take the win. In second place, running a personal best of 36:50.77 was Nikki Chopra of Amherst. Carolyn Day of Gordon College finished in third place (also with a personal record) running 36:56.73 __________________________________________________________________ In the men's 5,000 meter race, Noah Mahoney of Wesleyan University finished in first with a time of 15:11.26. Noah's teammate Will Wise finished in the second position, running 15:34.17. Jack Crum of Bates College ran just under sixteen minutes to finish in third place.

This event commemorates MIT Police Officer Sean Collier and serves as a platform for collegiate athletes from the New England region to showcase their talents.
- Reggie Lewis Center Road Race
From the 30th anniversary website of RCC, more here "The Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center (the Reggie) at Roxbury Community College (RCC) kicked off its 30th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with a Road Race at Franklin Park. The event featured a 4.2-mile run, or 2.1-mile walk, along with other family-friendly activities, to bring the community together in support of health, wellness, and athletic excellence. Over 175 attended to formally begin the 30th Anniversary Celebration and honor the legacy of Reggie Lewis. The Road Race was the start of a series of fundraising activities aimed at augmenting the Reggie’s current fitness and community offerings, and creating new programs to further support the community. Although Back Bay and Roxbury are two miles apart, there is a 23-year difference in life expectancy for people living in the two neighborhoods. The Reggie is helping address this health inequity as the home of health and wellness in Roxbury and beyond."

Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, VA On day one of the 2025 DI Indoor Track and Field Championships, Harvard's Izzy Goudros placed sixth in the Women's Pentathlon, earning First Team All-American honors. She had a personal best in the high jump and a seasonal best in the shot put. She scored 4,305 points. __________________________________________________________________ In the women's mile, Boston University's Vera Sjoberg set a school record to finish eighth in Saturday's final. She placed eighth, earning First Team All-American honors. __________________________________________________________________ In the women's 800, two women from Harvard earned First Team All-American honors. Victoria Bossong ran 2:00.93 to finish second, and Sophia Gorriaran finished seventh in the final running 2:02.57. __________________________________________________________________ Providence College's Alex Millard placed twelfth in the 5,000 meter run, earning Second Team All-American honors. __________________________________________________________________ In the men's 1 mile race, Boston University's Foster Malleck and Boston College's Steven Jackson ran fantastic races Friday night to qualify for the final on Saturday. In the final, Foster Malleck placed third, running 3:54.42. Steven Jackson ran 3:56.07 to place seventh. Foster and Steven each earned First Team All-American honors. _________________________________________________________________ In the women's 3000, Kimberley May of Providence finished in sixth place to earn First Team All-American honors. Kimberley passed four runners in the closing 200, finishing in 31.27. Shannon Flockhart, also running for Providence, finished in fifteenth with a time of 9:12.33, earning Second Team All-American honors. _________________________________________________________________ The Harvard women's team of Chloe Fair, Izzy Goudros, Sophia Gorriaran and Victoria Bossong finished sixth with a time of 3:30.49. Victoria caught the runner from Texas (Ramiah Elliot) at the finish line, closing out a five meter advantage. The Harvard team earned First Team All-American honors.

Virginia Beach, VA Isabella Whittaker had the performance of the meet, breaking the NCAA women's record for the 400 meter run. She finished in 49.24, running a scintillating 25.43 for the second 200. The women's 400 meter final was split into two heats. Isabella ran the third fastest time for the opening 200 meters and ran the fastest closing 200. Aaliyah Butler, running for Georgia, and in the second heat, finished with the second fastest time on the day. Her opening 200 (23.18) was the fastest first 200 of all competitors. Since she was in the second heat, she would have been aware of the stunning time Isabella Whittaker had posted in the first heat. Aaliyah had recently beaten Isabella in the SEC championships a couple of weeks ago. __________________________________________________________________ Georgetown's Abel Teffra set a new NCAA championship record in the men's 1 Mile. Teffra was able to close in 26.72 to secure the win and the title. Teffra told letsrun.com that double threshold workouts gave him the strength to win in the final straight.
