The B.A.A. Boston 5K took place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in Boston. Hosted by the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), this event attracted 10,000 participants and provided a fast, scenic, and festive environment, enabling runners of all skill levels to complete the race at the iconic Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston Street.
The event acts as a "shakeout" or introductory race for the Boston Marathon weekend. Unlike the marathon, the 5K is suitable for families and runners of all abilities, offering a flat, fast course through Back End, Kenmore Square, and Boston Common.
The race kicks off the B.A.A. Distance Medley, which also features the B.A.A. 10K and B.A.A. Half Marathon. The 5K benefits charitable initiatives, such as The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation.
